Human Rights

The Democratic Republic of Congo is facing a decline of activities focusing on awareness, monitoring, and advocating for the observance of human rights. We observe a generalized violation of human rights and the affected people are silent because they totally ignore what to do. Human Rights is now considered as a privilege of a certain category of people in the society.

Our approach is centered on information session, trainings, documenting human violations, meeting with stakeholders, and advocating for the respect of human rights.

The promotion aims at creating awareness, protection aims at doing all we can to ensure that human rights which are observed may not be violated anymore, and defense aims at restoring human rights which are already violated.

MONITORING HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS IN KINSHASA

During this month of May 2026 we have done the following:

Two members of COJESKI-DRC participated in the Monitoring of Human Rights Violations in Kinshasa alongside other Actors from the Civil Society and Human Rights Organizations members of the Monitoring Cluster hosted by the United Nations Human Rights Offices. We visited various illegal detention centers and cases of arbitrary arrests and four (4) Courts of Justice in order to find out why there is lack of faith and decrease in number of local population who get services from the Courts in order to come up with actions.

One member participated in the launch of the National Human Rights Defenders Coalition in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a project which is spearheaded  by Defend Defenders and African Human Rights Defenders.
