SUMMARY:Workshop on durable solutions to FDLR fighters in the Democratic Republic of Congo
DESCRIPTION:We have organized a workshop bringing together interested actors in the efforts to explore local durable solution to the challenges posed by the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda known as FDLR. The one day workshop will focus on bringing all actors on board in order to work together rather than being considered as a problem only for the international community. \n \nThis was our recent consultations with Rwandan Refugee Leaders in Kinshasa  \nThe workshop on Thursday August 20th 2026 will start at 9am and so far invitations have been sent to Government Institutions\, the Diplomatic Missions\, Actors of the Civil Society\, and Refugee Leaders living in Kinshasa. One among our approach to harmonize on local solutions which can be encouraged in order to promote peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo. We expect to have the Minister for Regional Integration as Panelist alongside with two other experts and a representative of refugees from Rwanda who feel particularly targeted by this topic. \nPlease feel free to join in case you can and if not continue visiting our website for more updates.

SUMMARY:Open letter to the new UNHCR Country Representative in DRCongo: Reform the entire UNHCR or you also fail
\n  \n  \nKulihoshi Musikami Pecos \nAnimateur National

SUMMARY:Meetings of this week in which we participated
DESCRIPTION:This week \nMonday October 5th\, 2026: Meeting with members of the Monitoring Group in order to draft a project proposal focusing on refugees and IDPs. The intended to draft a proposal which aims at awareness to Police Officers about the Law concerning the Protection of Human Rights Defenders in DRC. The proposal was done and submitted to the Partner. The meeting was also informed about another proposal which is needed to address issues affecting refugees and IDPs. COJESKI-DRC was then tasked to present a proposal in less than two week. \nThe same day we also attended a meeting of the Civil Society to present the list of those who will attend the national Dialogue\, the meeting is part of efforts which are put in place to bring all actors of the Civil Society together for a common agenda during the national dialogue. Lists were made in order to select various actors who may play various roles during the national dialogue. We are still compelling a list refugees and IDPs. \nTuesday October 6th\, 2026 \nCOHERE Monthly Meeting on the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo\, and refugee pro-bono services in the world which are both online. These two meetings were organized online in which we fully participated. COHERE monthly meeting brings together local initiatives addressing issues in their communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo\, and this helps them to know each other\, to share experience and opportunities. We were also pleased to attend a meeting of various actors in the world involved in pro-bono services to refugees where we briefed them about the situation of refugees in DRC. \nThe same day\, we attended a Public Conference on 30 years of wars and impunity in DRC which will bring together the Noble Price Dr. Denis Mukwege\, the Opposition Leader Martin Fayulu and the Government Spokesperson Patrick Muyaya. Young people are encouraged to attend. This Conference was organized by the Coalition of Students Committees from different Universities in Kinshasa and attracted a big crowd of young people. \nWe shall also have a meeting to prepare our field visit to IDPs in Maluku which will take place on October 18th\, 2026. \nWednesday October 7th\, 2026 \nBriefing meeting with refugee leaders in Kinshasa and also Civil Society Meeting on the National Dialogue\, this meeting could not take place because we failed to secure a free venue. We are still looking for places where we can get a free place in order to discuss with refugee leaders. \nOn the same day we attended the African Union ECOSCOC meeting on displacement and movement in Africa\, the meeting observed the necessity to provide accurate information to young people about opportunities related to migration\, to advocate for free movement in Africa and create opportunities to young people. While the discussions were focused on visa and other restrictions\, Kulihoshi Musikami Pecos noted that more efforts should be oriented to fight against poverty among young people in Africa through various initiatives\, poverty is the main problem because those who cannot travel are the poor young people. Even in the Democratic Republic of Congo young people cannot travel within the country because they are just too poor. \nThursday October 8th\, 2026 \nOffice work the whole day \nFriday October 9th\, 2026  \nField visit to Maluku with some people who are interested to find out opportunities which can help IDPs to get involved in agriculture for their livelihood activities rather than depending on relief aid. We shall visit areas which can be better for agriculture\, analyze the whole chain of food supply up to Kinshasa which has a big market of Consumers and analyze best ways to invest in Agriculture in Maluku. \nSaturday October 10th\, 2026  \nConference organized by Alerte DRC which will focus on sharing the agenda proposed by this network about the current situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. \nSunday October 11th\, 2026  \nMeeting with the United Nations Group of Experts on the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo focusing on various issues including the humanitarian situation.
